Kepasa
Ukulele Models and Prices
There
are six ukulele models in the Kepasa Ukulele lineup.
Madeira
- A very small bodied soprano ukulele with a 14"
fingerboard scale. Base price $750 includes choice of
woods, plastic binding on top, back and soundhole, Grover
Sta-Tite 4B or 4W tuners, Spanish cedar neck, hard foam
canvas covered case, Tusq® nut and compensated saddle.
The Kepasa Madeira is named after the Portugese island
from which three instrument builders, Manuel Nunes, Jose
do Espirito Santo, and Augusto Dias, brought the tiny
instrument that eventually became known as the ukulele.
Madeira upcharge options include: wood binding $50, Pegheds
$80, rope binding $150
The
Josephine - A soprano body with a 14" scale fingerboard.
Base price $750 includes choice of woods, plastic binding
on top, back and soundhole, Grover Sta-Tite 4B or 4W tuners,
Spanish cedar neck, hard foam canvas covered case, Tusq®
nut and compensated saddle. This
model was first built for Craig Robertson to replicate
the size and feel of his LeDomino ukuleles.
Josephine upcharge options include: wood binding $50,
Pegheds $80, rope binding $150
Hollywood
Style- Concert body with a 7" lower bout and
a 15" scale fingerboard. Base Price $850 includes
choice
of woods, plastic binding on top, back and soundhole,
Grover Sta-Tite 4B or 4W tuners, Spanish cedar neck, hard
foam canvas covered case, Tusq® nut and compensated
saddle.
This
narrow waisted concert style was built by the Royal Hawaiian
ukulele makers as well as many other Hawaiian builders,
and later copied on the mainland by the Hollywood ukulele
company.
Hollywood

Middlesex-
Concert body with a 15" scale fingerboard. Base
price $850 includes choice of woods, plastic binding on
top, back and soundhole, Grover Sta-Tite 4B or 4W tuners,
Spanish cedar neck, hard foam canvas covered case, Tusq®
nut and compensated saddle.
Middlesex upcharge options include: wood binding $50,
Pegheds $80, rope binding $150
Little
Mac -The Kepasa Little Mac is reminiscent of
the old Selmer/Maccaferri gypsy guitars in its slightly
shorter body, wider waist, and oval soundhole. Base price
$950 includes choice of woods, plastic binding on top,
back and soundhole, Grover Sta-Tite 4B or 4W tuners, Spanish
cedar neck, hard foam canvas covered case, Tusq® nut
and compensated saddle.
The sound is deeper than the usual concert size ukulele
and actually leans more towards a tenor sound, but still
employs a 15" fingerboard scale. The Kepasa Little
Mac is a good candidate for concert strings that use a
wound third string, or strung with a low G string.
Little Mac upcharge options include: cutaway $100, wood
binding $50, Pegheds $80, slotted headstock with Grover
geared tuners $200
Comet
- Thin bodied acoustic/electric concert with 15"
scale, $500 base price includes choice of woods, Grover
Sta-Tite 4B or 4W tuners, Spanish cedar neck, hard foam
canvas covered case, Tusq® nut and compensated saddle,
passive undersaddle transducer. The Kepasa Comet
can be built in alder with spruce top, maple with spruce
top, or mahogany with spruce top. A cedar or mahogany
top can be substituted as well. I usually install an undersaddle
pickup on the Comet.
Comet
upcharge options include: internally mounted Shadow preamp
$100
Other
options available on all models:
- Koa or maple neck, add $50
- Color tint, add $50
- "V" shaped neck, no extra charge
- Shadow pickup and internally mounted preamp, add $150
- Kepasa Ukuleles are strung with Aquila or Worth strings.
