Josephine
Koa Soprano Ukulele
Built for Craig Robertson Josephine II aka Koa Josephine
aka Josephine 1K
Sunday,
February 4, 2007. The Koa Josephine body is complete
and ready for binding. I wiped some Naptha on the koa
to illustrate a similar look to lacquer.
Notice
all the nice striping that flows sideways on every piece
of wood. You know what those lines are all about; they shimmer
and appear to jump around when you move it in the light
just right.
And
that character grain is present on the sides as well.
Can't wait to get a nice shine on this baby and turn it
slowly under the lights. Don't worry, I'll
be gentle.
No
explanation necessary here. Hanging around while the lacquer
cures.
Ditto.
Headstock
of course. Bookmatched koa cut from the body excess.
Full
back waiting for tuners.
Waiting
for the bridge. Not much longer. Ohhhhh, I meant to run
this by you. I tried a different fingerboard tip shape than
the original Josephine. This tip mirrors the headstock tip.
It's not too late to revert to the original Josephine pointy
shape, the only difference is it would stop at a partial
14th fret rather than a partial 15th fret.
Caught
in full frontal nudity, waiting for a bridge and some
strings to look more decent.
Bridge,
tuners and strings will be on shortly.
March
27, 2007. The Josephine 1K is completed on the way to Somerville.
